The Boxer’s most notable characteristic is his desire for human affection and clown-like behavior. Boxers love humans of all ages and their playful nature is well suited to life with children.
In addition to their well-chiselled head and striking silhouette, Boxers are well known for their role as household guardians, children’s playmates and loyal friends. The boxer is classified as a ‘working’ dog largely due to their keen sense of hearing which helps them instinctively guard. Though they are always alert, they are not a nervous breed and will not bark without cause. They have discernment and an uncanny sense of distinguishing between friend and intruder.
One of the qualities that sets the boxer apart is the unique expressiveness of his face. The skin furrowing of well-chiselled the forehead, the dark soulful eyes, and at times almost human attempts to converse, make his replacement by another breed difficult for one who has owned a boxer before.
Though boxers may spend hours laying at their person’s feet, they are an exuberant breed and should not be mistaken for couch potatoes.
Did you know that white boxers come from the very same genetic pool as their coloured littermates?
